A day marlin fishing is so much more

than just a ride out to sea and troll-

ing around. Climb up to the helm and
you’ll experience life unfolding in pan-

                  oramic wonder.The horizon stretches

unbroken, the sea shimmering in hues

that shift with the sun’s position. But

while most see the open ocean as
                  empty, captains know better.The “view

                  from the helm” is anything but vacant;

it’s teeming with motion, mystery, and
wildlife in a constant dance of survival.

For the longest time I considered my-

self lucky to have a sportfisher to run

and be in the captain’s chair alongside
some of the best in the business. But

as a photographer, I realized the real

blessing are the sights, sounds, smells,
                  and action unfolding around me.These

                  views inspired

                  me to pick-up the camera

and capture what I was seeing.

On a calm day, a simple wake in the

water could be the slow methodical

march of a great white shark on a stroll
or a dominate yellowfin tuna leading

the pack to feeding grounds. When the

water’s visibility is clear, you can see

twenty- to thirty- feet down and
