ocean. You’ll see the telltale silver glit-

ter of small fish flashing as they turn,
packed tightly together in a desper-

ate effort to avoid becoming lunch.

Moments later, the water erupts with
whites or striped marlins slashing their

bills, tuna barreling through like torpe-

does, or sailfish with their sails raised,

herding and stunning prey with aston-

                   ishing agility.

                   Then there

                   are the bigger shadows.Sometimes it’s
the unmistakable shape of a shark,cut-

ting slowly beneath the boat. Other

times,it’s a mako fin slicing the surface

while hunting, or a great white circling

                   cautiously.

The wildlife of the open ocean is not

always obvious or easy to find, but it’s
                   always there.

Every day offshore is a reminder that

we are guests in a vast and ancient

                   world. Whether you’re chasing mar-
lin or simply drifting with the cur-

rent, the helm offers a window into

the soul of the sea. For those who
know where to look, it’s a view that

                   never gets old.
