It's a Wrap!!

It was a busy day at the dock with 211 boats fishing on the seventh and final day of the extended White Marlin Open. The tuna dominated the scale and changed the leader board in the tuna division. Sea Hab brought in a bluefin tuna weighing 188 pounds. Caught by angler Jonathan Cianciulli, the Sea Hab moves into first place in the overall tuna division. This fish also takes the daily tuna category and is worth an estimated $764,000. The second place tuna of the 52nd annual White Marlin Open was also brought to the scale today. Angler Alex Eason aboard the Shorebilly weighed his 186.5 bluefin tuna that is worth an estimated $85,000. The tuna caught on the Mama C by angler Tommy Farella on Monday still holds for third place. Tommy’s 95 pound catch is worth an estimated $111,000.

There was only one white marlin brought to the scales today, and unfortunately it did not meet the 70 pound minimum. Both the first and second place white marlin caught earlier in the week still hold. Dan Gough on the Billfisher is in first place in the white marlin category with his 72 pound fish worth an estimated $3,914,000. In second place is Trey “Cricket” McMillan aboard the Catch 23 with his second place fish worth an estimated $389,000. 

In first place in the blue marlin category is the Barbara B with it’s massive 929.5 pound fish caught by angler Drew Osmeyer. The big blue is the only fish in this category and worth a whopping 1.2 million dollars.

Pitch-n-Bills brought a dolphin to the scale today and it placed in the daily meatfish category in the new Outboard Division. The Barbara B’s 32.5 pound dolphin is in first place overall for the dolphin category, followed by the RoShamBo’s 27 pound fish in second and the Sweet Freedom’s 26.5 pound dolphin in third. 

There was only one wahoo weighed in the White Marlin Open and it came to the scale today weighing 49.5 pounds. Caught by angler Chris Jones on the Shooting Star, this fish is worth an estimated $74,000. 

The prestigious release category winner belongs to the Taylor Jean with a total of 1,085 points. Their angler, Rob Wagner had a total of 595 points which put him in first place and they also claimed first place boat.
